For this commercial re-roof, we removed the existing roof on Henrico Doctors’ Hospital Medical Office Building down to the structural concrete deck. The original system also contained lightweight concrete, and tear-off proved to be a major undertaking. In addition, due to the high building occupancy and desire to minimally impact patients at the hospital, the disruptive and messy tear-off had to be undertaken at night and into the wee hours of the morning. The facility is now outfitted with a new two-ply modified bitumen roof system. Modified bitumen roofs are extremely durable and long-lasting, have exceptional flexibility in a range of temperatures, require little maintenance, and are energy efficient. They’ve been a trusted roof system for decades and continue to be an excellent choice for many building owners.
